Game of Thrones is Officially The Most Watched Sky Entertainment Programme
The Season 6 finale episode bowed out with over 1.82million viewers glued to their TVs.
With the episode only airing last night, that figure is expected to triple in the coming days as fans watch it on demand.
Game Of Thrones is omnipresent. There is no which way you turn that you won't hear of see something referring to last nights explosive season finale (don't worry, no spoilers will be issued!). It should therefore come as no surprise that George RR Martin's fantasy series is Sky's most watched entertainment programme by several miles!
To date, the Season 6 series alone has managed to draw in audiences of an average 5 million per episode. That's up 41% from Season 5's numbers making this season the most capturing yet. When you think that this is merely Sky's figures alone, it's inconceviable to think what figures will reach over Stateside on HBO and illegal streaming over the internet. In fact, Game of Thrones is the first thing to surpass porn viewing when it comes to online streaming.
Sky buyers must be giggling away to themselves considering the amount of business that Game of Thrones has brought into the company. Since March of this year, Sky has reported 16 million downloads of Season 1 - 5 in the run up to Season 6 premiering. No doubt, they're praying that Game of Thrones will be Martin's gift that just keeps on giving.
