The film will explore the love story that helped turn the music legend's life around.
The Irish Film Institute are excited to welcome directors Rob Alexander and Steve Read to attend a Q&A following a screening of their new film, Android in La La Land, celebrating the life of Gary Numan in September 15.
The film will offer an exciting window into the inspiring life of Numan. Numan is widely considered a pioneer of commerical electronic music. His style of music shocked 1970s Britain. With a sound that nobody had experienced before and hits such as Are 'Friends' Electric and Cars, he became one of the world's biggest selling artists.
His is a true story of triumph over adversity. Suffering from Asperger's syndrome at a time when the public knew little about the condition, he was often branded a freak by the media. The film traces his extreme journey from depression to near bankruptcy and a period of living in the wilderness. Finally, he found love with his biggest fan and his life was transformed as she helped him conquer his disease and rekindle his love for music.
