Downton Abbey movie to begin production in 2018
NBC Universal’s president has announced that their hit historical drama Downton Abbey plans to be coming to the silver screen soon. The film is still in its early stages, as NBC Universal president Michael Edelstein said on Wednesday, “We are working on getting the script right and then we’ve got to figure out how to get the cast together. We’re hopeful to make a movie sometime next year.”
Interestingly enough, this seemed to be news to some members of the cast themselves. Laura Carmichael, famous for her role of Lady Edith Crawley said of the proposed film, “Well, tell my agent, because we’re still waiting to know.” Sophie McShera, who played cook Daisy told journalists, “Well, you’ve got confirmation before us, we have no idea if that’s happening. But we would all love to be part of the film if it was to happen, for sure.”
The show’s creator, Julian Fellowes, seemed to be optimistic, saying, “I think we’ve got a film to make in us."
