Divergent cast won't return for series finale

The Divergent film series - which started with box office success and high expectations - is dying painfully, slowly, and awkwardly.
The Divergent production team decided to split the finale to the Divergent novel trilogy - Allegiant - into two films. But Divergent is no Hunger Games, and it's certainly no Harry Potter.
The first planned film - Allegiant - earned a disastrous $179.2 million against a budget of $110 million (films generally have to make double their budget just to break even).
The conclusion film - Ascendant - will now be a television film rather than a blockbuster series finale, and it seems the original cast is having none of it.
Ansel Elgort, who played the brother of Shailene Woodley's protagonist, strongly hinted in a recent interview that the film cast would not return for the made-for-TV movie.
And because this series' trainwreck finish isn't painful enough, Elgort added that "it's obviously sad...we didn’t say our goodbyes because we were expecting to do another one together".
The series that helped establish Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Miles Teller as stars will end without the three.
