Absolutely Fabulous Opens to the Biggest Weekend Since Spectre
It's been an utter success of an opening weekend for the sweetie darlings!
Nothing short of fabulous as Patsy (Joanna Lumley) and Edina (Jennifer Saunders) manage to take in £4 million on their opening weekend.
Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie enjoyed the biggest UK film opening since James Bond last installment Spectre. The revamp of the beloved terrible twosome Patsy and Edina also marked the biggest UK opening in Fox Searchlight Pictures' history. The big screen adaptation of the BBC sitcom has also been sweetening up the critics with Empire praising; "The laughs come and go, but Edina and Patsy are classics."
With a range of sixty celebrity cameos pulled from the A-Z list rankings, Absolutely Fabulous features Joan Collins, Kate Moss and John Hamm among 57 others. The plot follows Edina and Patsy as they flee to the French Rivera after shoving Kate Moss into the River Thames. During the premiere at London's Leicester Square, Saunders even teased a sequel; "If people go and watch it we’ll be making another one!"
Well with £4 million in the box office already, you can expect to see more of Patsy and Edina antics in the future.
