Deadpool 2 may begin shooting as early as next year
The Merc with a Mouth is heading back to the big screen.
Marvel’s Deadpool may return to the cinemas sooner than expected.
Producer Simon Kinberg confirms that the sequel to the character’s 2016 film is currently in development. Writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who wrote the original film, are currently at work on a script, and the creative team hopes to begin shooting at the beginning of next year.
Both Ryan Reynolds and director Tim Miller are set to return.
The movie is expected to include the fan-favorite character Cable, though no actor has yet been confirmed for the part. Rob Liefeld, the co-creator of the Deadpool character, has suggested Mad Men star Jon Hamm for the part.
Deadpool received enthusiastic responses from both critics and fans, and it currently ranks as the highest grossing R-rated film of all time.
