Fox cancels comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine after five seasons
Fox comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been officially cancelled after five seasons, sparking outrage among its legions of devoted fans and admirers.
The show - which stars among others Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Chelsea Peretti and Terry Crews - has said to be cancelled due to low ratings. This news comes despite the show having amassing a cult-following, developed critical success including two Golden Globes in 2014, and seen praise for tackling social issues and its intersectional representations of people-of-colour and LGBTQ+ communities.
The Hollywood Reporter has, however, said that Brooklyn Nine-Nine producers, Universal Television, have seen contact from other potential suitors including Hulu.
There has been a widespread outpouring of support for the show with many well-known celebrities voicing their disapproval, including the actors themselves.
