Flying Lotus has written the score for a new anime Blade Runner short
The short, titled Blade Runner Black Out 2022 is written and directed by Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop).
After his most recent foray into directing with the surrealist feature, KUSO this will be Flying Lotus' fifth time scoring a film. The cast includes Kenichirou Matsuda (Ghost in the Shell franchise), Ichigo Aoba and Makoto Furukawa.
The short acts as a tie-in with the upcoming Blade Runner 2049, which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, produced by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling.
Black Out 2022 is set three years after the original 1982 film, which was directed by Scott. It will be the third short film to be released, after Nexus: 2036 starring Jared Leto, and 2048: Nowhere to Run, which stars Dave Bautista and was shared on September 14th.
