Felicity Jones set to star as Ruth Bader Ginsburg in new biopic

The English actress is set to replace Natalie Portman in the role of US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg — the second woman appointed to the Supreme Court. Portman had been in talks to play the lead, but it seems Jones has slipped ahead for some reason or another.

On The Basis of Sex will follow Ginsburg’s fight for gender equality throughout her law career. The film will be directed by Mimi Leder (Shameless), and was written by Daniel Stiepleman. The script actually made it on the 2014 Black List — a collection of the best unproduced scripts from that year. Now, it looks as if the project has got the go ahead with filming scheduled to start in Montreal this September.
