Ed Sheeran announces title of new album, full track listing + 'The Fresh Prince' cover
The new album will be released March 3.
Continuing with the mathematics theme, Ed Sheeran has announced that his new album will be titled ÷, or Divide. Two new singles have already been released from ÷ shattered Spotify streaming records, overcoming the most streams in one day record that had been previously held by Adele's "Hello." Ed himself responded to fans, saying “First off, what a week! The reaction to my new singles has been absolutely mind-blowing and I can’t thank you enough. My new album ÷ holds a very special place in my heart and I really believe this is my best work to date. I’ve been eager to get back and I couldn’t be more excited for March 3rd.”
The new singles are only a glimpse of what's to come from the new record, as this new album promises to show an even more personal side of the popular artist. With songs inspired from his own personal stories of family, past relationships, and the story of his career so far. The two already-released singles include "Castle on the Hill," an ode to his childhood in Suffolk.
÷ was recorded in various locations around the world, as the team moved between LA, London, Suffolk and the RMS Queen Mary 2. The album was produced by Benny Blanco, who has worked on albums with Rihanna and The Weeknd, producers Johnny McDaid, Mike Elizondo and Steve Mac. Ed also produced the record, and even painted the album art himself.
