Dueling Films About Zelda Fitzgerald in Development
Your desire for Zelda Fitzgerald biopics is about to be met, and then some.
Shortly after the announcement of a Zelda Fitzgerald movie starring Jennifer Lawrence, word dropped that Scarlett Johansson would also star in a film about the famous socialite. If you've ever been interested in the life of F. Scott Fitzgerald's infamous socialite wife, now is a great time to be alive.
Dubbed The Beautiful And The Damned, the film will be scripted by Hanna Weg. It looks like the deck is stacked in Johansson's favor, with support from the Fitzgerald estate, which includes transcripts from Zelda's time in the sanitorium that suggest that many of her own ideas were taken by Scott.
Zelda Fitzgerald is ripe subject matter for studios looking to make a juicy nonfiction biopic, with a penchant for creativity mixed with hedonism, and a possibly overbearing husband.
