Dublin's Hampton Hotel's dancefloor up for auction alongside Elton John memorabilia
Formerly known as Sachs, the Hampton Hotel closed in April, and is now expected to bring in approximately €200,00 in the auction of its contents.
Dublin's iconic Sachs hotel, renamed as The Hampton Hotel in 2008, will see its contents go to auction, including the hotel's dance floor and a host of Elton John memorabilia. The auction is expected to rake in approximately €200,000.
The hotel, which opened in the '50s as the Morehampton Hotel, is located in Dublin 4. In April of 2023, the hotel closed and was stripped bare, leaving 1,200 lots set to find new homes.

The online auction, taking place September 4 and 5, has been organised by Niall Mullen in conjunction with auctioneer Aidan Foley.
Contents of the hotel up for bidding includes the 39 room hotel’s full kitchen interior and a food truck. Also included are the contents of three pop-up shops, originally selling Elton John’s eye-wear range. The pop-up shops, which ran at Kildare Village as well as locations in London, includes cases (used for transporting the equipment by air), displays, mannequins, Elton John memorabilia, and a disco ball.

Viewing of the contents will be open to the public and will take place at 60 Prussia Street, Dublin 7, from August 31 to September 3. The auction, however, is online only and will take place on September 4 and 5.
