The collection includes a personalised director's chair, an Espresso machine and a Twin Peaks rug
Over 450 items from the personal collection of the late, legendary filmmaker David Lynch are being sold at an auction.
The auction will take place on June 18 in Gardena, California and online via the Julien’s Auctions website. The sale includes memorabilia from Lynch’s long career in film, television, music and visual arts.
Items include Lynch’s personalised director’s chair, his 35mm print of Eraserhead, an espresso machine from his home and a curtain and rug from the Black Lodge set of Twin Peaks.
Also on offer are prop menus from Mulholland Drive, the couch from Lost Highway and a phone from the production of Dune. Beyond film-related items, the collection features everyday household objects, art supplies, furniture and even several electric guitars.
The collection also includes a "Festool Chop Saw and Four-Unit Shop Vac Setup", a "1974 Incense Holder made by Lynch", "Loose Blue Drawers Set from Woodshop with Tools", a "Large Dreamcather" and two "Taxidermy Deer Heads". The eclectic range reflects Lynch’s surrealist and absurdist style for which the term "Lynchian" was coined.

Lynch, who is considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, died in January 2025 at age 78 from a cardiac arrest after being diagnosed with a severe lung disease.
Some fans have welcomed the insight the collection provides into the director’s life, while others have expressed discomfort at the breach into his personal items.
Ken Layne, an American writer and blogger, expressed his unhappiness with the auction: “Life ends and people leave behind a lot of stuff, but it saddens me to see all these things David Lynch collected and often built himself be sold off to strangers only months after he passed on. Even the tricorner US flag from his father’s funeral.”
