Amy Winehouse's father ordered to pay nearly £1 million to her friends

Amy Winehouse's father, Mitch Winehouse, must pay £569,330 to Amy's former stylist Naomi Parry and £394,521 to her friend Catriona Gourlay over the next two weeks. Additionally, he has been ordered to cover the two's legal costs on an indemnity basis.

The ruling comes after a legal battle between Mitch and friends of the late singer, where he accused them of auctioning off dozens of Amy's items for their own profit without his consent.

Both women claimed that the items they sold were either gifted to them by Amy herself, or items they already owned.

The case was dismissed in April of this year by a Deputy High Court judge who found that "neither Ms Parry nor Ms Gourlay deliberately concealed any of their disputed items."

Court documents obtained by People Magazine alleged that Mitch had been in communication with Darren Julien, head of the auction house responsible for the sales. Documents found that Mitch "asked Julien’s Auctions not to allow Naomi Parry to see the Estate’s auction contract."

The items sold included a silk mini dress worn by the singer during her final performance in 2011, which sold for £182,00, alongside other clothing, accessories and general memorabilia.

“What we shared was built on trust, loyalty, and a genuine love of the work. To see that relationship misrepresented so publicly has been both painful and profoundly unjust", claimed Parry on Instagram.

Amy Winehouse rose to stardom after her Grammy Award winning album Back to Black in 2006. She became renowned for her unique jazz-influenced style. In 2011 she sadly passed away due to accidental alcohol poisoning.

On her 15th anniversary, the star's mother, Janis Winehouse, was quoted saying "she was a victim of her own success".
