Culture Night celebrates its 20th anniversary tomorrow
Check out some highlights of this year’s edition below, including a special performance from the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and Patrick Dexter.
Culture Night 2025 is set to take place tomorrow, September 19, across the country, celebrating its 20th edition this year. As the countdown draws closer, the night is shaping up to be an unforgettable one, with an endless amount of festivities, performances and activities to partake in.
The RTÉ Concert Orchestra will join forces with acclaimed Irish cellist Patrick Dexter for a special free performance at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Sean McDermott Street at 6:30pm.
This early-evening concert will feature 45 musicians performing a specially curated programme blending classical and Irish traditional influences.
The Wood Quay Amphitheatre, Dublin, will offer a host of evening performances, including comedian Sharon Mannion, musical theatre artists, Jessica Hayes, Zach O’Brien, the Dublin-based Mongolian ethnic group, Khuur Band and the Ballinteer Male Voice Choir and Irish funk rockers GrooveLine.
Meeting House Square in Temple Bar will host acts such as Zetra, Calum Agnew, Lisa Murray and Earthmover, as well as a performance from dancer Favour Odusola fusing Nigerian and Irish culture.
At Central Plaza, Dublin, Peru Fusion will feature performances and workshops of Peruvian traditional dance styles, before being taken over by City Sounds, which will transform the Plaza into an open-air disco dance floor. On Capel Street, Echo Exchange will offer an exciting night of techno DJperformances.
This year, a number of events will aim to celebrate Irish Travellers’ culture,a photographic exhibition at the Bray Travellers Community Development Group centre from 5pm to 9pm, which will include a combination of women’s group photography and youth development work.
In Brú Bhríde, Tuam, Co. Galway, you will be able to join Traveller women for a traditional craft workshop, griddle bread tasting, culture exhibits and more.
In Cork’s North Main Street Car Park, celebrate the city’s post-punk legacy with Kaught at the Karpark, which will feature Sean O’Hagan, Big Boy Foolish and …and NUN came back.
In Belfast, Studio NI will celebrate the 21st anniversary at Beanbag Cinema, while The MAC will offer A Night of Arabian Dreams in Belfast, a vibrant, one-evening dance event designed to celebrate cultural diversity through Middle Eastern dance performances and audience engagement.
In Waterford, the iconic Theatre Royal will let Music Generation Waterford to do a ‘House Takeover’, featuring a variety of live gigs inside and outside the Theatre with almost 100 young musicians from a range of genres.
