Stellar cast revealed for the Irish premiere of Martin McDonagh's Hangmen
Hangmen will run at the Gaiety Theatre from March 11 until April 8, 2023.
Gaiety Productions in association with Decadent Theatre Company have unveiled the stellar cast for the upcoming Irish premiere of Martin McDonagh's Hangmen.
Opening in the Gaiety Theatre in March, 2023, the cast includes internationally renowned Irish TV star, Killian Scott, making his professional theatre debut.
This major new production comes hot off the heels of the release of McDonagh’s award-winning feature film, The Banshees of Inisherin>. Additionally, the darkly comic tale follows the success of recent Gaiety Productions of Martin McDonagh’s The Cripple of Inishmaan, The Lieutenant of Inishmore and The Lonesome West.
Scott is joined by Aisling O’Sullivan; Anthony Morris; Daniel Reardon; Denis Conway; Gary Lydon; Joe Hanley; Jonice Elmore; Olivia Byrne; Peter Gowen; Robbie O’Connor and Stephen O’Leary, in the Andrew Flynn directed production.
Flynn has a long association with McDonagh’s work including The Cripple of Inishmaan, The Pillowman and A Skull in Connemara, which received three nominations in The Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards.
The production centres around Harry, the "second-best hangman in England" who's something of a local celebrity in his small pub in Oldham. But what’s Harry to do on the day they’ve abolished hanging?
The synopsis teases: "Amongst the local reporters and sycophantic pub regulars, dying to hear Harry’s reaction to the news, a peculiar stranger lurks, with a very different motive for his visit..."

Hangmen runs in the Gaiety Theatre from March 11 - April 8 at 7.30pm from Monday to Saturday with matinees at 2.30pm on Thursdays and Saturdays (bar March 11).
