The two worked together on the dystopian drama The Lobster and will join forces again for The Killing of a Sacred Deer.
UPDATE: The Killing of a Sacred Deer welcome Oscar-winning Nicole Kidman to the cast!
Kidman will join the cast as the wife to Farrell's character. With such an accomplished actress pitched to the project, The Killing of a Sacred Deer is looking even more promising.
The Lobster (Farrell's and Lanthimos' first collaboration) walked away with the Cannes' Prix Un Certain Regard last year so it's fitting that they announced their award-winning efforts will reunite once again during the 2016 festival.
Ed Guiney's Element Pictures are also back on board to produce the upcoming, sinister drama The Killing of a Sacred Deer. The script, described by Guiney as 'stunningly original', is the work of Lanthimos' frequent collaborator Efthymis Fillipou. Farrell will take center stage as successful surgeon Steven. When Steven strikes up a friendship with a teenage boy, the doctor is entering himself unknowingly into a troubled, malicious and dark family. Steven's life begins to crumble around him and he is confronted with having to make an unfathomable decision.
Casting is still ongoing so no indication yet of who will be appearing alongside Farrell. However, exec-producer Guiney, director Lanthimos, screenwriter Fillipou and main star Farrell are more than enough reasons to await The Killing of a Sacred Deer.
