Christopher Nolan confesses he wasn't aware of Harry Styles' fame before Dunkirk
The director knew his new lead actor was famous, just not that famous.
According to a new confession from director Christopher Nolan, he wasn't entirely aware of Harry Styles' history as a boy-band star before casting him in the upcoming historical drama Dunkirk. “I mean, my daughter had talked about him," Nolan explained. "My kids talked about him, but I wasn’t really that aware of it. So the truth is, I cast Harry because he fit the part wonderfully and truly earned a seat at the table.”
Nolan has a history of casting surprising actors, and it's worked out well for him in the past. “When I cast Heath Ledger as the Joker, it raised a lot of eyebrows and caused a lot of comment," he recalled. "I have to trust my instincts, and Harry was perfect for this part.”
