Benedict Cumberbatch to act in and produce Rogue Male adaptation

Cumberbatch is getting down in the mud for on–screen adaptation of Geoffrey Household's thriller.

The novel follows a British hunter and sportsman who attempts to assassinate an unnamed dictator. However, he is caught, tortured, and left for dead. He escapes back to England but is pursued by the authorities and must hide out in the harsh British environment with enemy agents hot on his tail.

Foxlight Search Productions are teaming up with Cumberbatch who is going to produce and star in the adaptation which is being written by Michael Lesslie (Assassin's Creed, Macbeth)

The 1939 novel by Geoffrey Household has already been adapted for the screen twice. In the 1941 film Man Hunt starring Walter Pigeon and in the 1976 BBC TV film of the same name starring Peter O'Toole.

“I am thrilled both as an actor and producer to be working on bringing this most treasured of English novels to the big screen,” Cumberbatch said in a recent press release.
