All Episodes of Jessica Jones Season 2 Directed By Women
Great news for Hollywood diversity!
Out of all of Marvel's Netflix shows so far, the first season of Jessica Jones might be the smartest and most subversive. It was willing to take on one of the most uncomfortable subjects in film and television–rape–and explore it in a way that goes beyond cheap exploitation. If there was one problem the show had, it was too long.
The news that women will direct all thirteen episodes of the second season is welcome. While Hollywood has been better in recent years at diversity, it still has a long way to go. Jessica Jones is the perfect show for an all-female direction. We only hope that the show will for multiple plotlines rather than stretch a single arc over thirteen episodes.
