Alicia Vikander Cast as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider

The 2001 Lara Croft film, starring Angelina Jolie, was unsuccessful critically; could Alicia Vikander bring more spark to the story?

Making a video game adaption can be a difficult road to trek. Fans are finicky about their favorite series being represented on screen and rightfully so. In the past, dynamic plot lines are ditched in favor of special effects and the film suffers for it.

One review on Rotten Tomatoes stated about the original Lara Croft film that, "Angelina Jolie is perfect for the role of Lara Croft, but even she can't save the movie from a senseless plot and action sequences with no emotional impact." Alicia Vikander could be another wonderful Lara Croft, but she can't save a terrible script.
