Aladdin is Also Getting the Live Action Reboot Treatment
Disney rolls out another one of these, with no signs of stopping.
Guy Ritchie, best known for his work on Snatch, Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, and Sherlock and its sequel is crossing over into family pictures, directing the live action Aladdin remake. While stylistically distinguished, Ritchie feels a bit like an odd choice. However, we’re interested in what he will deliver.
The musical elements of the 1992 animated classic will be retained, so it’s likely the iconic song A Whole New World will make its return. Dai Lin, who has produced for Guy Ritchie on other films, will also produce this one. John August, best known for his work on Tim Burton films, will write.
This new Aladdin joins the ever growing slate of planned reboots of Disney animated classics, including The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Mulan. Even the Night on Bald Mountain sequence from Fantasia will receive the live action treatment.
