2022 Brit Awards feature most women nominees in a decade
Adele, Little Simz, Joy Crookes and Taylor Swift are among the popular female artists nominated for next year's Brit Awards.
Including the likes of Adele, Little Simz and Taylor Swift, the 2022 Brit Awards will have the most women nominees in over a decade.
All nominations were announced during an hour-long TV special on ITV, The Brits Are Coming, with Adele, Ed Sheeran, Little Simz and Dave leading the way for nominations with four each.
In the thirteen categories, eighteen female artists or all-women groups were nominated for the 32nd edition of the award show celebrating all things musical from 'Them Across the Water', just behind the 22 female acts given nods in 2010.
Sam Fender was also nominated alongside the artists above for two of the major awards, Album of the Year and Artist of the Year.
Irish interest will be behind Joy Crooks, who was nominated for Best Pop/R&B Artist and Best New Artist at the upcoming ceremony.
International Artist of the Year is another competitive category, with Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, and Lil Nas X battling it out.
Another interesting footnote is that Elton John has received his first Brit nomination in twenty years in the Song of the Year category for his collaboration with Dua Lipa on 'Cold Heart'.
