The Dagger Lees also call it a day
The Dublin psychobilly merchants are sadly no more.
Delorentos aren’t the only Dublin band hanging up their plectrums with The Dagger Lees, nee Stagger Lee, calling a halt to their three-year reign of psychobilly terror.
“It’s been one hell of a ride,” they reflect. “From all the usual madness of being in a band and working and living with both of our lady rockers raising mini rockers at the same time, plus touring with some great bands, recording music we loved, writing, playing, falling down, getting up again... and lovin' every minute of it! The past couple of months though have thrown some sad aul curveballs that have meant that the band couldn't continue in its current form, and as much as that pains us, our date with the Diamond will have to wait another day…
“Each of us can look back on the dedication, love, blood, sweat and tears we put in to making Stagger Lee/The Dagger Lees, something we are really proud of. We can happily say that we still love the bones of each other and there’s not many bands can say that! We're all moving to pastures new (the first of which to look out for is Benni’s solo project Hathor Vein).... so we'll see you in the next lifetime.”
A cracking live band, they will be missed.
