Blade Runner director Ridley Scott has optioned John Boyne's new novel

Scott's production company Scott Free optioned the 2016 novel in a deal brokered by WME Entertainment's Los Angeles branch with Boyne's agent, Simon Trewin.

"John Boyne has once again put his mastery on display by bringing us a wonderfully immersive and gripping saga with a host of memorable characters, and we are hugely excited about bringing it to the screen."

The Heart's Invisible Furies its the story of its central protagonist, Cyril Avery over a number of decades, as he struggles to come to terms with his sexuality in Ireland. An intensely personal work, the novel has received acclaim and been printed in fourteen languages.
