WATCH: Award-winning Irish short, Our Last Summer, gets an online screening this weekend
The independent movie marks Alannah Wilson out as a cinematic one to watch
A name to watch out for this year is Alannah Wilson, a Bow Street Academy graduate who wrote, directed, starred in and helped to soundtrack her first short, Our Last Summer.
Despite being made on a micro-budget, it’s a sumptuous looking affair which addresses “young people’s experience of love, friendship, loss, invisible mental health struggles, ambition, creativity, imposter syndrome, independence, growing up, relationships and their impact.”
Screened before Christmas in the IFI where it received a standing ovation, it’s already won a mantlepiece-full of foreign festival awards and suggests that the Wicklow 21-year-old has a very bright cinematic future. You can watch it for free on January 24 and 25 as part of the online Underground Cinema film awards.
