George Ezra retains No. 1 spot during first week of new rules for the Irish Singles Charts

George Ezra enjoys a second week at the top of the Irish singles chart with his first Irish Number 1 'Shotgun', which is taken from his latest album, Staying at Tamara’s.

A week earlier, George dethroned chart-topping 'Solo', by Clean Bandit ft. Demi Lovato, which remains at Number 2 this week.

'Shotgun' was both the most downloaded and streamed track of the week in Ireland. However, it’s Maroon 5 and Cardi B’s 'Girls Like You' that scoops the accolade of the most streamed video of the week in Ireland, racking up nearly 300,000 video plays.

'Shotgun' has been a slow burner of a hit on the chart, finally taking the top spot in its 14th week inside the Top 50. Prior to Shotgun, George’s highest-ranking hit in Ireland was Budapest, his worldwide breakthrough hit, which reached Number 4 in 2013.

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com/Ireland, George comments:

“I never thought that this would happen. The thing that’s most amazing about it is the fact that all of you out there are sharing the song and playing it loud and enjoying it with your summer, which is exactly what I wanted. I can’t thank you enough.”

New entries and high climbers

Elsewhere in this week’s Top 10, there’s new entries from Drake ft. Michael Jackson, with 'Don’t Matter to Me' at Number 3, and 'Nonstop' by Drake which climbs to Number 5.

Meanwhile, Drake’s 'Emotionless' is also a new charter at Number 13, Years & Years climb 9 places to Number 14 with single 'If You’re Over Me', while Anne-Marie drops 13 places to Number 16 with single '2002'.

Further down, there are big climbs for Martin Garrix feat. Khalid’s 'Ocean', rising 17 places to 25, while Kodaline’s 'Follow Your Fire' climbs 13 spots to 44, Liam Payne and J Balvin’s 'Familiar' is also up 7 to 22. And finally just outside the Top 50 this week but ones to watch are new entries from homegrown talent Gavin James who starts out at 54 with 'Always' and Rudimental & Major Lazer’s 'Let Me Live' (55).
