GLOBAL DRUG SURVEY 2017: The truth about cocaine use in Ireland
We have one of the highest instances of people seeking emergency treatment after taking it...
Cocaine remains the stimulant drug of choice for Irish people with money.
36.4% of respondents to the Global Drug Survey here say they’ve used it over the past 12 months – down almost 7% on 2016, but still above the international average.
We’re paying an average €86.50, which is a bargain compared to the €213.60 Australians have to pay, but almost double what coke costs in Holland.
Cocaine is, not surprisingly, cheapest in Colombia where you’ll pay a mere €3.50 a gram.
We have the same 2.2% instance as them, though, of people seeking emergency medical treatment following the use of cocaine.
That puts Ireland and Colombia in joint second behind Brazil where the figure is 4.2%
We limit ourselves to half a gram a session; only Norway at 0.4 of a gram takes less.
47.1% of Irish respondents say they’d like to cut down their cocaine use.
