Picture This Live at the Docklands (Photos)
Picture This Home for The SUMMER Live at the Docklands! Pop-rock sensations Picture This delivered a high-energy, emotionally charged "Live at the Docklands" experience last night as they brought their Home for the Summer Tour to Shannonside for the first of two sold-out shows. The Kildare band, led by the endlessly charismatic frontman Ryan Hennessy, presented a show that was both meticulously polished and wonderfully spontaneous.
The band entered the stage, toasting pints of Guinness, immediately drawing the audience into their world. Hennessy, a whirlwind of motion, was a master at working a crowd, whether he was swinging his mic stand, sprinting across the stage, or simply taking a moment to connect with a fan in the front row. His vocals were consistently pitch-perfect, effortlessly transitioning from the raw power of a pop-rock anthem to the tender vulnerability of a ballad. Their stage presence was further enhanced by a creative set design that incorporated a cozy Irish pub scene, intensified with multi-colored, strong backlighting.
The setlist was a masterful blend of fan favorites and new material, ensuring that both long-time listeners and those new to the band were satisfied. Anthemic hits like "Never Change", "Addicted to You", and "Things Are Different" were met with a roar from the crowd, while newer songs from their latest album, Parked Car Conversations, were received with equal enthusiasm. Moments of intimacy were sprinkled throughout the set, with Hennessy sharing quiet moments with the audience, and the band coming together within the pub backdrop for an acoustic-like feel. These tender pauses only make the high-energy bursts that followed feel even more explosive.
The band’s chemistry is undeniable. Bassist Cliff Deane, guitarist Owen Cardiff, and drummer Jimmy Rainsford provide a tight, powerful backbone to Hennessy’s vibrant stage presence. They feed off of each other’s energy, and that energy was mirrored by the adoring fans who sang along to every word.
Support came from the English band Only The Poets from Reading.
This coming weekend sees The Saw Doctors play on Friday, Block Rockin Beats with Dec Pierce on Saturday, and The Waterboys on Sunday.
