Kanye West’s insurance company refuses to pay compensation for his canceled tour
No money for Kanye West! The rapper will not receive any compensation for his canceled "Saint Pablo" tour.
Kanye West’s expectations were not met as he will not receive a cent for his tour cancellation from his insurance company. The insurance market Lloyd's of London claims it is West´s own fault that he suffered a collapse. According to the US celebrity portal “TMZ” which refers to a complaint that this was caused by the abuse of illegal drugs, prescription drugs obtained without a prescription and alcohol.
West had previously sued his insurers for $10 million in compensation payments for missed revenues due to the tour’s cancellation. He claims that he ended the tour in November due to mental collapse caused by being away from his family as well as his wifes Paris robbery ordeal. However, Lloyd's appear to lack evidence for these claims. West had initially refused to provide the necessary information. Lloyd´s did not mention explicitly the consumption of drugs in its counterclaim. They just referred to the consumption of “something” which is in breach of the insurance policy and excludes him from its benefits.
Kanye's lawyer Howard King said, “Lloyd’s counter-claim for declaratory relief is the same generic response Lloyd’s files in all cases when they don’t want to honour a legitimate claim but can’t find a factual basis to deny a claim.” He also added: “We look forward to the day a jury awards our client the full amount of the policy he purchased, plus interest at 10% per annum, along with punitive damages.”
