Weapons
Welsh rockers with a bang
Weapons is the suitably incendiary sounding fifth album from Pontypridd-based six-piece Lostprophets. Therein, the Crown Princes’ of the nu-wave of British heavy metal scene attempt to re-energise the rock world by packing in enough “lighter in the air” moments over the course of 40 minutes to give Fireman Sam a heart attack. Stripped back and unashamedly radio-friendly in places (‘A Song For Where I’m From’, ‘Bring ‘Em Down’) the record replaces the bite of their earlier material with a more measured, melodic bark. Tracks like ‘A Little Reminder That I’ll Never Forget’ and ‘We Bring An Arsenal’ confirm that Lostprophets sound all the better for it.
