WATCH: Trailer for Brendan Gleeson’s Calvary
The film is the second collaboration between Gleeson and writer-director John Michael McDonagh following the huge success of 2011’s record-breaking The Guard.
The trailer for John Michael McDonagh’s Calvary, one of the most anticipated Irish films in recent memory, has finally made its way online.
The film is a dark comedy/thriller that involves Gleeson playing a “good priest” who discovers in the confession box one Sunday that one of his flock might just have it in for him.
McDonagh’s previous effort The Guard was released to highly positive reviews and went on to become the highest grossing Irish independent film of all time, beating out younger brother Martin's film In Bruges in the process. It’s safe to say that we’re all rather excited for this one.
The film boasts a hugely impressive cast including Isaach De Bankolé, Aidan Gillen, Marie Josée Crozé, Domhnall Gleeson, Dylan Moran, Chris O'Dowd, David McSavage, Kelly Reilly, Pat Shortt and David Wilmot.
The film will have its world premiere next month at the Sundance Film Festival and will be released on April 11 2014. You can watch the trailer below.
