WATCH: Second official trailer for Brooklyn
From rural Ireland to the big city, this Irish immigrant has a few surprises in store
A new film is being released that embodies the charms of rural Ireland and the bustling metropolis of Brooklyn, New York all in one.
The historical drama will take place in the 1950s when a young Irish girl decides to make the move to Brooklyn, New York, attracted to the promise and opportunity that is offered by the United States. The protagonist, Eilis Lacey (played by Saoirse Ronan), is homesick at the beginning and misses the comfort of her life back at home in Ireland. She soon meets a charming American man, and experiences an epic romance that even further entices her to life in the US. Lacey's past catches up to her, however, when she is called to return home for certain reasons. It is here where she must decide between a life which she has known forever in Ireland, or her new bustling life in Brooklyn, New York.
Brooklyn is directed by John Crowley, and was co-produced by companies in Ireland, the UK and Canada.
It will hit Irish theatres November 6.
