Watch: Jehnny Beth shares music video for new single 'No Good For People'
"We explored this idea of the double, how we can be two-faced sometimes, or want to hide our ugly side," said the London-based singer
French songwriter and former Savages singer Jehnny Beth has released her latest single, 'No Good For People.'
The track is taken from her upcoming sophomore studio album, You Heartbreaker, You, which the London-based singer announced back in May. Set to release on August 29 via Fiction Records, the LP features elements of post-punk and alternative rock.
To accompany her fresh single, Beth has released a music video, which was co-directed by herself and long time collaborator Johnny Hostile.
Dystopian visuals of blood flowing from the singer's eyes, a room slowly flooding with water, and a bug crawling out of Beth's mouth reflect the track's haunting lyrics.
"I'm no good for people. I wear them down… I like to tell you all the things I see. I wear you down, and you get unhappy. But I’m alive, so I guess you haven’t found a way to kill me yet."
Speaking on the inspiration behind the video, the songstress said, "We explored this idea of the double, how we can be two-faced sometimes, or want to hide our ugly side."
"It was made soon after David Lynch had died, and somehow, when I watch it now, I can see a bit of his influence in the surrealistic aspects of some of the scenes," she added.
Last month, Beth announced a European and UK tour for October, which will take her to France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Czechia, the Netherlands, and the UK. Tickets are available here.
