WATCH: Gavin James triggers wave of Late Late Show support for ALONE
The whole country seemed to be tuned into Gav's performance last night!
It was one of those great Late Late Show moments that brought the whole country together.
Having online fundraised for them these past few weeks with his Live At My Gaff performances, Gavin James went on the telly last night to encourage everybody in the virtual audience to donate €4 to ALONE Ireland by texting “alone” to 50300, which you can still do now.
His renditions of ‘Always’ and Wizard Of Oz classic ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ triggered a wave of support, which will contribute enormously to the charity’s work with elderly people experiencing difficulties with loneliness, ill health, poverty, poor housing or homelessness.
The exact figure raised is still being totted up, but is already up around the €150,000 mark.
Also in-studio to discuss how the Covid-19 crisis has impacted on their work were ALONE’s Gavin and Sean Moynihan.
Well done to all on a job brilliantly done!
ALONE's COVID-19 support line for older people remained open over the weekend and will now be open seven days a week in response to increasing demand, including tomorrow on St Patrick's Day. Our number is 0818 222 024 - we're answering queries 8am-8pm. Help us spread the word.
