Vuplynes' Maeve Molly on Rory Gallagher: "He was electric"
Maeve Molly shares her reflections on Rory Gallagher's legacy, as part of our special 25th anniversary tribute to the legendary Irish guitarist.
Maeve Molly is one half of acclaimed Irish rock dup Vulpynes. Following the release of their second EP, Dye Me Red, in 2019, the pair returned this year with their powerful new single 'Sister'.

My Dad introduced me to guitar when I was a kid. He had lots of guitar magazines, books and records around the house. Live In Europe was one of the first live albums I really got into. It was really exciting to connect with an Irish musician who was revered outside of Ireland. I remember watching footage of him playing on RTÉ and thinking, “Right, he’s Irish. I want to do that too.” The combination of Rory and Thin Lizzy made me feel like blues and rock ‘n’ roll were close to home. But I’m so thankful for all the amazing footage there is of Rory playing. He was electric to watch. He was authentic. You can tell that Rory felt every note.
