Van Morrison to receive prestigious industry award

Van Morrison is to be honoured as a BMI (Broadcast Music Inc) Icon at the performing rights organisation's annual London Awards on October 5.

Having already been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame, Morrison will be recognised at the Dorchester Hotel for his "enduring influence on generations of music makers."

He joins a distinguished list of previous BMI Icons which includes James Brown, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Isaac Hayes, Al Green, Dolly Parton and Brian Wilson.
