UPDATE: Dubliners Tupelo to support Booker T's Dublin date
The Memphis soul man is in The Village
Soul and R&B legend Booker T pays the Dublin Village a visit on June 1. Tickets are €35.
Accompanied by the M.G.’s, Mr. Jones scored huge ‘60s hits with the likes of ‘Green Onions’, ‘Soul Limbo’ and ‘Time Is Tight’.
Since then, the Hammond organ man has played with everyone from Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash to Eddie Vedder and Neil Young, and in 2009 returned to the album charts with Potato Hole.
And now, Dublin rhythm and roots band Tupelo have been confirmed as Booker's special guests. The five piece, who appeared last year at both the Guinness Kilkenny Rhythm & Roots festival, and the Life festival in Co Meath, released single 'Firefly' earlier this month. Hot Press described the track as "swinging banjo led trad at its purest and best."
