UK indie-rock outfit Spector announce first LP in six years, Now or Whenever
'Now or Whenever' is slated for release on October 1st via Spector’s own Moth Noise label.
London indie-rockers Spector have announced their comeback album six years after the release of 2015’s Moth Boys and 2012's Enjoy It While It Lasts, titled Now or Whenever.
Set for release on October 1st, the band also shared new single ‘Catch You On The Way Back’ from their forthcoming third full-length project.
“'Catch You on the Way Back In’ is a 160bpm bon voyage: An “until next time” for when you don’t know how long the next time might be," Frontman Fred Macpherson says of the new track.
"It’s music for closing and music for opening, and strangely both the first track we started for the album and the last before we didn’t see each other in the flesh for six months. It’s more of a drinking song than a thinking song, so it will probably make most sense when we’re all allowed in the same room again.”
The outfit, who have garnered a cult following over the years as one of Britain's most beloved alternative bands, also shared an EP compilation Non-Fiction in 2020.
Four-piece Spector is composed of Frederick Macpherson as lead vocalist - previously of Les Incompétents and Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man - Thomas Shickle on bass, Jed Cullen on synth, guitar and Danny Blandy on keyboard, formerly drums.
The band's debut album Enjoy It While It Lasts reached number 12 in the UK Albums Chart and went to number one on the Official Record Store Chart on the week of its release. It was announced back in 2013 that Christopher Burman had left the band, with touring members set to fulfil his duties on guitar and synthesiser for upcoming concert dates.
