Turner gig to go ahead at Whelan's tonight
Pierce Turner's Whelan's show will go ahead tonight (Friday), in the wake of promoter Derek Nally’s death yesterday.
In fact, Turner may have been one of the last people to speak to Nally apart from his immediate family.
“We spoke on the phone for about 45 minutes around 3 o’clock yesterday. Derek was always keen to have a chat and he seemed to know everything that was going on in the music business. The conversation ranged over a number of things. We talked about Art Garfunkel and other stuff. It’s a real shock, not least because I may have been one of the last people he ever spoke to. Derek always loved the way I trod all over the place while performing. So we will celebrate Derek's love of music and his life tonight.”
Doors 8.30, show starts at 9pm.
