Trouble man
Van Morrison to be sued over cancellation of one-off pub gig in Wiltshire
Van Morrison is at the centre of a legal wrangle after pulling an August 3 show at The Crown pub in Everleigh, Wiltshire.
Says a Van spokesman: "This was a unique event requiring specific terms of agreement relating to the sale of tickets. These terms of agreement have been blatantly breached by the promoter and Van Morrison had no alternative but to cancel."
Landlords Gary and Sarah Jane Marlow deny breach of contract and are planning to sue for damages of £150,000stg.
"High Court proceedings have been issued against Mr. Van Morrison and Exile Productions Ltd. seeking substantial damages arising out of the cancellation of the performance" their solicitor, Timothy Hardcare, tells the Irish Independent.
The Marlows – who claim to already be £55,000stg out of pocket – are worried that fans may still travel to the show.
"A lot of people have bought tickets on the internet and we can't warn them the concert has been cancelled," they say.
