Track of the Day: Amerik & Travi the Native - 'Ivory'
Belfast composer and producer Amerik has followed up his recent Bouquet EP singles 'Apricot' and 'Olive' with brand new track 'Ivory'.
Ambient electro-producer Adam Booth, AKA Amerik, has released the third single from his forthcoming Bouquet EP, featuring fellow Northern Irish artist Travi the Native.
Having previously joined forces with Little Rivers (Callum Cairns) on 'Apricot' and Gareth Dunlop on 'Olive', Amerik has now teamed up with alt-pop dreamer Travi The Native for a captivating new offering.
In contrast to the tenderness of 'Apricot', Amerik delivers a more beat and bass-driven track with his production skills in his latest collaboration. ‘Ivory’ is a confident salute to '80s pop, using instrumentation, tempo and rhythm to fuel the track with palpable energy and emotion. Brimming with synths, rhythm and rich textures, the uplifting track is anthemic from start to finish.
The song's lyrics speaks of longing, nostalgia and missing that special person who can tether you to the earth. Travi's pop-perfect vocals mingle with Amerik's electronic production to perfection, with the build up of sound within the verses colliding in the pair's powerful chorus.
"I'm always in the clouds/Now it's harder to get back on the ground," Travi sings, trying to focus on feeling fine despite physical distance from a loved one.
"I'm not so good at telling myself I'll be fine/ Well maybe, baby, you could tell me I'm alright."
“This track was birthed out of Travi’s and my personal circumstances with long distance relationships. Trying to deepen a relationship through FaceTime and just do normal couple things as best we can and hoping the other person is committed as you are to this," Amerik said of the track's origins.
Amerik's 'Bouquet' EP is a collaborative project featuring four of the best local Northern Irish songwriters; including Dunlop, Cairns and Pete Wallace - set for release later this month.
With funding from the Arts Council NI and the National Lottery, Amerik created the highly anticipated EP project and has garnered major excitement for the imminent release.
Travi the Native recently shared down-tempo track 'Love Doesn't Stand a Chance' as the first single from his upcoming EP 'God Only Calls The House Phone' - due to land on April 29th.
