Track of the Day: Kevin Herm Connolly, 'Swimming'
His second solo release is coming in the new year.
Today's Track of the Day comes from Kevin Herm Connolly and his cheery new single 'Swimming'.
Connolly has previously been a member of alt-country band El Diablo, with whom he released two albums in the early 2000s, and is probably best known for his solo work under the name of Herm. In 2009 he released Monsters while under the moniker to widespread acclaim, with numerous outlets anointing it as one of the best records out of Ireland that year, and also had the video for the single ‘Heads’ nominated for an Irish Music Television Award.
Now back with his full name, 'Swimming' represents the first release from his forthcoming album Make It Up, which is set to arrive in February of 2019. The trippy and colourful video was shot around "various bodies of water in Mancroa, on the northern coast of Peru", and accompanies a song to match that carries a radiant, Beach Boys-esque vibe.
The Galway native is officially launching the single with a gig in Dublin’s Cobblestone Bar this Saturday, the 1st of December. Tickets are priced at €10 and support on the night comes from Barcelona-based Irish singer-songwriter Davy Lyons. You can check out the video for 'Swimming' below:
