Tony Dixon RIP
The FM104 dance guru has tragically passed away.
Hot Press is saddened to learn of the death of renowned R’n’B and hip hop DJ Tony Dixon who’s passed away after a short illness.
A Dublin Northsider who earned his stripes working alongside the likes of Gerry Ryan, Tony Fenton and Ian Dempsey on pirate radio, Dixon joined FM104 in 2000 where he was among the first people in the country to interview and champion the likes of Mary J Blige, Destiny’s Child and the then Puff Daddy.
Also a voracious blogger, the 52-year-old was voted one of the UK’s Top 5 DJs in Blues & Soul magazine, beating the likes of Tim Westwood.
A talented broadcaster and true gentlemen, his presence will be sorely missed on the capital’s airwaves.
