Tinariwen to play Olympia headliner
Rolling Stones support act Tinariwen have announced a concert at Dublin's Olympia Theatre.
The 'Rolling Stones of the Sahara' are to follow up their Slane date with a show announced for the 9th of December.
The Touareg troubadours - whose name means 'empty places' - released their third album Aman Iman this year, following up the award-winning Amassakoul. Their sound has been described as a potent meld of funk, blues, soul and rock, and many detect the influence of Bobs Dylan and Marley. The latter's searing socio-political commentary is the most obvious point of contact: the band's music was considered so incendiary during the 1990s that it was banned in Mali.
So get you to Ticketmaster or any of the other usual outlets and check out a band whose credentials as rock rebels are the genuine article. Tickets are €33 and available now.
