The creative force behind Tickley Feather, Annie Sachs, has an idiosyncratic and preternaturally bizarre voice and vocal style. Her abilities quickly made her a sought after member of many bands though she was essentially un-malleable to most of the conventional songwriting presented to her. Annie instead chose to forge her own path and selected the Tickley Feather nom de guerre in 2004 to attempt to define her own sound and use it to express her truly singular and unique perspective. Her new album, Hors D'Oeurves, was released by record label Paw Tracks. Tickley Feather is worth a listen for fans of Animal Collective, Syd Barett and Kria Brekkan (Múm).
Dublin-based Patrick Kelleher is a 24 year-old musician hailing from Wicklow, although he spent much of his childhood in the English town of Rugby. Patrick has created and distributed the home-made EPs 'You Look Cold' and 'He Has To Sleep Some Time' (Virtual 7”). The latter can be downloaded free via his myspace. His music varies from brooding, tense electronica to jaunty acoustica to 8-bit dance-floor ditties, but always with a twist of something ethereal or idiosyncratic. His songs are often premised on a mixture of live instrumentation, drum machines, cheapo voice-sampling yamaha keyboards and vocals that are, at times, heavily distorted.
