Why is DJ Shadow seeking copyright clearance from Therapy? Michael McKeegan explains all.
Therapy? have been talking about the recording of their tenth album which is due through Spitfire in September and includes 'The Third Face', 'This Ship Is Sinking', 'Long Distance', 'I Won't Let You Die Alone', 'Perish The Thought' and 'Walked Through Darkness' among its scabrous classics-in-the-making.
"The three piece format is working out so well," enthuses Michael McKeegan. "It's truly a power trio again. Neil's drums are a mix of DJ Shadow and Slayer; the guitar sounds like an orchestra with elements of Killing Joke, Husker Du, Black Flag and early Metallica; and my bass has taken on a more angular 'prowler' approach – lots of Joy Division, Cliff Burton and drum 'n' bass going on there. The lyrics are darkly humorous and the melodies will make grown men weep…Andy has excelled himself on these tunes!"

Talking of the boy Shadow, McKeegan reveals that, "About a month ago we got a call from his management. He's releasing a DVD and wanted to know if we would give him permission to include a section of our cover of 'High Noon' – a song he wrote! Apparently he uses it in his live set and needed clearance from us. How screwed is that!"
