Clannad enter Independent Chart following death of Moya Brennan
The band's 2020 album, In a Lifetime, ranks at number thirteen.
Clannad have entered the Independent Chart following the death of Moya Brennan.
The band's April 2020 album, In a Lifetime, ranks at number thirteen beside Radiohead's OK COMPUTER at no. twelve and Adele's 25 at no. fourteen.
In a Lifetime is a greatest-hits anthology album. Containing two new tracks, 'A Celtic Dream' and 'Who Knows (Where the Time Goes)', the record was the group's first release since the passing of bandmate Pádraig Duggan.
The album was to coincide with the Clannad's 50th anniversary. Their celebratory The In a Lifetime tour, set to take place that same year, had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Other Irish artists on the chart include Fontaines D.C. with Romance at no. three and CMAT with EURO-COUNTRY at no. fifteen.
Clannad were among the bands Hot Press admired and supported from the earliest days of the magazine. In the intervening almost-50 years, Brennan has gone on to become one of the most revered and widely-adored figures in Irish music.
Many tributes poured in from across the Irish music industry and beyond, following the news about Brennan's passing on April 14. Clannad's Pól and Ciarán Brennan, President Catherine Connolly, Taoiseach Micheál Martin, Daniel O'Donnell, and Una Healy are among those who have paid tribute to the Irish music legend.
Hot Press editor Niall Stokes has also honoured "the Moya he knew and loved".
This afternoon, April 17, family, friends, and fans bid final farewell to the First Lady of Celtic Music at her funeral in Co. Donegal. Read more here.
