The Three Patrick’s Charity Festive Concert!
Composer Patrick Cassidy and actor Patrick Bergin are teaming up to perform a concert at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin in aid of The Friends of St. Luke’s Cancer Care on 14 December from 8pm – 9:30pm.
One of Ireland’s most famous composers, Patrick Cassidy will bring the iconic Irish legend 'The Children of Lir' to life with the help of Patrick Bergin's narration, and choir master Michael Dawson, the Enchiriadis Chamber Choir, the Orchestra of Ireland and conductor David Brophy.
Children of Lir was the first major symphonic work written in the Irish language. Originally recorded by the London Symphony orchestra and choir, Patrick Cassidy’s 'Children of Lir' remained at number one in the Irish classical charts for over a year.
Speaking about his involvement with the project, Patrick Cassidy says: “I am delighted to rejuvenate Children of Lir for this special performance on December, 14th, which will include narration in English from one of Ireland’s best known actors Patrick Bergin.
“This promises to be a very magical experience for all the family to enjoy. I would encourage everyone to support this fantastic evening of entertainment and support St. Luke’s.”
Katharine Byrne, Chairperson of The Friends of St. Luke’s said: “The Children of Lir Christmas concert will bring the mythical story to life through music and narration. We are lucky to have some of Ireland’s most talented people collaborating on this once in a life time performance.
“By supporting this evening event it will help us to continue to provide essential care to patients who attend the St. Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network and help make a real difference to people’s lives.”
Tickets cost €25-€40 and are available online – www.friendsofstlukes.ie
