Mario Rosenstock and his puppet friends have landed a World Cup gig with the Beeb.
Jose, Sven, Wayne, David, Mr. Alex, Fabio, Rafa, Arsene, Roy, Nelson and Dave from Newcastle/Stoke are back!
Yup, twelve months after disappearing from our screens as a result of Setanta Sports ceasing its UK operations, Mario Rosenstock, Damien Farrell and the rest of the Special 1 TV crew have struck a deal to provide World Cup content for the BBC.
As well as a regular BBC 3 slot, the chaps will also get to trade verbal blows with Gary Linker & Co. on BBC 1 and have a strong web presence.
“It’s worked out brilliantly!” Mario tells Hot Press. “Inter getting to the Champions League final means that Jose will be able to lord it over Mr. Alex; Wayne’s Player of the Year; Sven’s pimping has got him the job of managing the Ivory Coast who’s star player is Didier Drogba; and David will be able to ring in from LA or wherever it is he’s watching the games. We start the day the World Cup kicks off and will be there right through to the final.”
For more on the Special One’s World Cup exploits see the next issue of Hot Press, out on Thursday May 20.
